RESCUE efforts are undertaken by Kings Bridge for all horses in need. Most owners arrange to donate their horse to the program although Kings Bridge will purchase a horse to remove it from a critical situation. All horses entering the Kings Bridge program are guaranteed a clean healthy environment, individual box stalls, nutritious diets specially formulated for the horse's individual requirements, veterinary care, free exercise, humane handling and individual daily attention. Each horse is evaluated upon arrival for physical problems and conditions necessitating immediate veterinary intervention and support. All horses coming into the Kings Bridge program are guaranteed not to be sold for slaughter or medical testing. All Kings Bridge asks is that the horse be saveable and not suffering from a terminal disease or injury.

REHABILITATION Services encompass any and all needs of an individual horse to ensure the best possible support that can be given to ensure the horse receives the opportunity to enjoy a full, healthy and productive life within the limits of any disability the horse may have. Whether it’s veterinary or surgical intervention, specialized equipment and training aids , corrective shoeing, acupuncture, magnetic therapy, myotherapy, special dietary needs or simply loving attention. Kings Bridge provides everything humanly possible to give it’s horses a second chance.

RELOCATION THROUGH ADOPTION begins with a full evaluation of each horse for previous training, physical ability/disability, restrictions and retraining potential. Kings Bridge carefully assesses each horse for his/her best possible life style. Horses are offered for adoption to loving, humane homes after receiving medical clearance. Potential adopting owners are screened and closely matched with horses in the relocation program. After a horse has been placed, Kings Bridge monitors the horse closely for the initial 30 days. After that time, the adoption become final but only upon agreement and consent that Kings Bridge is give the first right to accept the horse back into it’s program at any future time should the adopting owner decide the horse no longer meets their needs or financial circumstances change. All horses are tracked by Kings Bridge for the rest of their lives to ensure maximum care and handling. Permanent records are kept on file at Kings Bridge and updated at least annually.

The continuing operation of Kings Bridge Equine Rescue, Inc. is reliant upon the donations and memberships from the general public and adoption donations received from it’s relocations. Adoptions donations are calculated on a sliding scale based upon a number of different factors which include expenses for veterinary care and length of stay needed. These donations assist Kings Bridge to defray the costs of providing the program to horses across the state of Massachusetts. Kings Bridge also donates horses to other non-profit programs in the area such as therapeutic riding programs and 4-H programs for children without horses of their own. A high percentage of horses finding themselves at our barn door are young and have much to offer. Please consider our program as your first alternative to other methods of relocation or disposal. Or, if you are simply interested in supporting our efforts, please consider joining Kings Bridge Equine Rescue, Inc. as an annual member or donor.
